The Best Things to Explore near Corinne’s Lower Blue Mountains Studio & Gallery

When you visit my studio and gallery in the Blue Mountains, why not make a day of it and discover some of the amazing local highlights - beautiful bushland, spectacular views, delicious fare, and unique shopping?

The Local Walks, Lookouts and Hidden Jewels

  • A hidden gem worth visiting is the little oasis of Glenbrook Lagoon, only a few kilometres away from the studio. I have been painting this reed-lined lagoon for the past 5 years, fascinated by the sense of the sacred that instils this place.

  • Another beautiful spot that allows dogs and boasts 5 waterfalls and a mature, lush Eucalypt forest is the Waterfall Loop Track in Lawson. The perfect walk if you like shadier, cooler walks and aren’t afraid of a bit of mud. Hiking boots are essential as the track can be slippery and a relatively good level of fitness is required. Even my teenagers love this walk, but most especially Misty, the Spoodle! You could catch the train to Lawson and walk the 1km to the start of the walk.

  • Sun Valley, a short car trip from my studio, has a lovely return walk into an amazing Eucalypt forest, along the edge of a stream and below towering boulders and caves. Walk for as long as you like along a gravel road, starting on Rosenthal Lane next to Sun Valley Produce. This is also quite a shady walk and a good one for walking adjacent to your companions while you trail your dog!

  • Other great nearby walks are the Elizabeth Lookout Loop in Lapstone, Florabella Pass in Warrimoo, Lapstone Zig Zag Track and Birdwood Gully, in Springwood. Many of them allow dogs, and all are featured on the AllTrails: Hike, Bike & Run App, which is available for Apple and Android. This App is a must – it has maps, will show you where you are on the trail and provides essential info about the difficulty of walks.

The Delicious Fare and Watering Holes

  • Vincent Diner in Glenbrook offers delicious Middle Eastern fusion food and velvety coffee.

  • Kickaboom, also in Glenbrook is my daughter’s favourite! With unusual food and drink creations, like Speculaas milkshakes and liquorice bread with salted butter, we are enticed back again and again. Wonderful, friendly staff and great coffee too.

  • Con’s Patisserie and Deli in Glenbrook makes the most delicious Guinness pies, sweet pastries and sourdough bread. And at the Deli next door, you can get delicious grazing platters for picnics.

  • 2773, The Lappo (pub), Blaxland Thai are other eating and watering spots close by you may like to try!

The Boutiques, Markets, Hand-made, Second-hand and New

  • Late September is my all-time favourite in Glenbrook – it has beautiful clothes, unique homewares and stunning jewellery. Samantha, the owner has a great eye and will help you pick out special items to match your style.
